It takes THREE WEEKS to make a Burberry trenchcoat?!

Yep, you read that correctly- it takes three weeks and over 100 steps to make the iconic Burberry trenchcoat, introduced to the world in the early 1900s. 

This world renowned outerwear, which has been universally agreed that it will never go out of fashion, is made with me highest quality fabrics, including weatherproof cotton and gabardine (a hard-wearing fabric invented by Thomas Burberry himself).

You would assume, as the trenchcoat takes so long to assemble, that it is handmade. In fact, only partially: although the gabardine fabric is not woven by hand, there being craftsmen to personally examine the fabric to ensure it is perfectly produced Burberry stated that the most intricate part is the collar: it takes specialists a whole year to learn the stitching for it.

A fun fact is that the frock was first embraced by explorers who took on Antartica, the South Pole and the Artic Circle, and it ultimately became the brand of soldiers, who had to work around 60 days to be able to afford the luxurious piece. Funnily enough, this does not differ much from the current hours of work  needed to pay off this coat (obviously with an average job and normal hours!).
